Although the limelight in church-world gravitates unerringly toward the city, small-town churches are out there, in the grandstands, and we are massive.
This book is about growing in love and appreciation for the rural community (aka boondocks) and while you’re at it, unpacking the mind-blowing possibilities of the church in that setting. Because the small-town way of life is trending in the big city, those of us in metropolises will also benefit—this could be the ace up your sleeve.
We love the backroads, but when it comes to growing the small-town church, we’re not interested in the scenic route. Yes, the church leadership market makes a killing under the guise of complexity, but it all comes down to this (easy as one-two-three): 1) having a leader or pastor who gets and loves the culture of the small town, 2) working with a team or congregation from within that environment, and 3) realigning the Sunday gathering away from the megachurch model (prevalent in church-world) to something more fitted to the sticks.
The result will be that the untapped potential of your rural church can be realized in all of its backwoods splendour and rustic glory!
